The parish Ayl

Ayl has got about 1.420 inhabitants and it is a small village belonging to the municipal administration Saarburg.
Ayl is one of the most famous viniculture places along the Saar, situated in Rheinland-Pfalz between Trier and Saarburg.

This position -suitable for viniculture- near the Saar, especially the Ayler Kupp, is known all over the world. The sparkly- fruity taste of the „Riesling“ grown on slate ground inspirits wine connoisseurs. Native wine-grower really like to present their products by wine tasting.

The visitors and tourists will get to known an attractive landscape, an excellent gastronomy with comfortable wine taverns and a great offer of well-kept guest rooms – whether in hotels, holiday flats or private houses.

Nature lover, wine-lover and people searching for relaxation will really love Ayl. Well built up walkways and cycle tracks pass vineyards and woods and they are suitable for long trips. While shipping on the Saar you get to know the beauty of the landscape from a very different point of view. Trips to Saarburg (4 km), a close placed and romantic town, to Trier (20 km) – the ancient city of the Romans which was built more than 2000 years ago- , to Idar-Oberstein (65 km) which is famous for its gem stones or to the neighbouring Luxemburg (14 km) are things to do.
